Brief History

On a bright, sunny, summer morning in January 1975, 175 eager children gathered in the empty shell of the Glenhazel Junior classroom block – those classrooms being Mrs Taub’s and Mrs Posner”s.
There were six teachers and an acting Principal, Mrs E.Wells.  At that stage there were 3 Grade 1 classes, two Grade 2 classes and one Standard 1 class.

Workmen were everywhere. There was no electricity and the Hall was not yet completed. The school grounds were just bush and builders rubble. During that first year, the grounds were established, grass was laid on the Junior playground and the big field and a parking area for teachers was levelled. The area in formnt of the senior block was bulldozed, graded and levelled. It was indeed a very noisy and dirty year.

The very sports day was held in the Junior Primary playground. This is the beginning of a school which was to guide, care for and prepare the youth to play influential roles in society at large.
